Marks Samsung YH920 Help Pages

Faultfinding

Firmware errors.

If like me you updated to the wrong version of the firmware, you may get various errors including 'Font Files Damaged'.

The easiest way to cure this is to download the firmware from my download page for the version that you are using.

I have included all the systems files in the RAR file, so just copy the lot to your system folder and all should be well. You may need to use the Samsung Recovery Utility to rebuild your music library.

Lost all your music?

The chances are that you haven't actually lost your music.

The system seems to rely on a set of indexes to access the songs. This is built when you use the Rebuild Library option from the recovery utility.

If these files get corrupt for any reason, then just use the utility to rebuild them.

It can takes ages to rebuild this when you have a lot of songs on the player, so please be patiant!

Hard Drive Fault?

Now here is where you DO have a problem. The hardrive is a Toshiba MK20046AL 1.8" Drive, and will set you back around £80 if you can get your hands on one.

Samsung will replace a fualty drive for you, but it will set you back around £90. Since you can buy a working model for around the same price on Ebay, I personally don't think it's worth it.

I have a YH920 with a duff drive in it here, and am hoping to fit a standard laptop drive to it to use as a home MP3 player - I will let you know if I manage it.
